Buying Clothes When You’re Busty

Buying clothes when you’re busty can be a complicated endeavour. If something fits in the bust, it’s too big through the shoulders and midsection. And if it fits your shoulders and shows off your waist, the fabric strains to cover your boobs. So we find workarounds: settle for tops with lots of stretch, layer camisoles under everything, and carry safety pins at all times.

There’s got to be a better way!

In my dream world, we would all have custom made clothes and everything would fit us perfectly. Sadly, we don’t live there. But we’ve got the next best thing: full bust-friendly clothing. And your responses to our end of year survey were clear. You want more of it! So we’re answering the call.

Bolero Beachwear and Exclusively Kristen

If you’ve shopped with us before, you might already be familiar with these designers. As the name hints, Bolero began as a beachwear business and has since expanded to include beautiful dresses for everyday. Bolero’s pieces are made in the USA using materials that are easy to care for and wrinkle resistant, which makes them ideal for travel. Our favourite style right now is the Erica wrap dress, which actually wraps – no safety pin or modesty cami required. Plus, it has pockets! (Read Sam’s love letter of a review here.)

Exclusively Kristen is all about clothing designed for busty women, by busty women. Designer Kristen Allen was wearing a D cup bra by age twelve, so she knows the busty struggle! Made in the USA, Exclusively Kristen uses smart button spacing and princess seams to create the perfect button-down shirt. Yep, you read that right. That classic wardrobe staple can finally be yours! And thanks to Kristen’s clever design, you won’t have to worry about any popped buttons or gaping.

Urkye

When you asked us to amp up our clothing selection, Urkye had to be the next addition. Their stuff comes all the way from Poland (like a certain favourite lingerie brand) but it’s so worth the wait. Our first order has practically flown out of the shop!

We’re starting with three styles: a sweetheart tank, a wrap top, and a wrap tank. The styles are alluring enough in themselves, but what really makes Urkye great is their two-step sizing system: each piece is sized for a waist measurement and a bust measurement. Translated into North American sizing, this means their tops are available in sizes small to extra large, and each of those sizes has a “busty” and a “super busty” option. So maybe you’re a size medium, super busty. Or a size extra large, busty. Either way, Urkye’s got you covered – literally!

When clothes are designed for bigger boobs, there’s no more pulling across your chest, and no more revealing more than you intended. You get to have a defined waist, and shoulder seams that actually hit your shoulders! Full-bust clothing means never settling for a tent just to accommodate your boobs. Because alterations are great, but clothing that fits without them is even better.
