Seamed bras and sports bras are generally fine to keep in a drawer. Be sure to do the hooks up to keep them from snagging any lace or embellishments. A t-shirt bra with molded cups (like Elomi’s Bijou, right) should hang from the straps or be stored in a drawer “sunny-side up.” If you invert the cups, you’ll find that they wrinkle over time, defeating the purpose of buying a smooth bra in the first place!

Rotation

If you only have a few bras and wear them all every week, you’ll want to store them in a way that’s easy to get at. But if you’re a bit of a collector, you may find that there are some bras you wear a ton and some that are saved for special occasions or certain outfits. Or perhaps your size fluctuates, so your bra wardrobe spans a few different sizes. Bras that aren’t in your regular rotation can be put away until it’s their time to shine. I have a few bras that don’t fit me now but may again in the future, and I stow those on a shelf in a plastic tote from Canadian Tire. It’s not fancy, but it separates them from the bras I actually wear. If you’re a clothes-on-the-floor type, you’re probably not going to suddenly start organizing your bras by type in a closet or drawer. The best habit is the one that works for you, so don’t get too caught up on doing it “right.” Yeah, it’s nice to keep your lingerie in good condition, but we’re not saving lives here, and “right” is a spectrum.

Space

I don’t mean to brag, but I have an enormous closet. It’s got loads of room to hang things, and my dresser lives in there too. (Okay, that was kind of a brag.) My point is that I have the space to hang my small bra wardrobe, so I do. I’m not super precious about it; they all hang by their straps on the same hanger. When I had less closet space, I used an over the door hanger. Maybe you’re blessed with an abundance of dresser drawers. You could dedicate one to lingerie, or be all KonMari about it and subdivide the drawer into categories.

Whichever method you choose, the goal is the same: to keep your bras in good shape as long as possible and make it easy to wear what you love.
