While it’s not a minimizer, it gives a slightly compressed shape. The lace embellishments are a lovely touch, and they’re thoughtfully placed at the sides of the cups so that they don’t interfere with the look of clothes. While it’s technically a plunge style, Amour isn’t too low coverage. The cut works great with a scoop-neck, and the soft, slim straps are easy to wear with a tank.

The Reviewer

That’s me! These days I usually wear a 30E in UK sizing. I have a shallow bust and a short upper torso, which just means that there’s not a ton of space between my boobs and my shoulders. I prefer a snug bra band and I like a “natural” shape: not too round, but not mega pointy. My all-time favourite bra is Panache’s Clara – I own three! – in which I wear a 32DD or a 30E, depending on how sensitive I’m feeling. I don’t wear a lot of t-shirt bras, but when I do, my go-to is Wacoal’s Lace Affair Contour in a 30E.

The Test Conditions

I washed my Amour before the first wear, and after every 1-2 wears. I bike to work most days, and my work day includes lots of movement as well as periods of desk work. I’ve worn Amour about 10-12 times now and it’s holding up beautifully.

The Fit & Feel

Simone Perele uses French sizing, so Sam did a little bra math and ordered my Amour in a 30F. I have a tiny bit of extra room in the cups, particularly on my smaller side, and while the 30F fits well enough and is comfortable, I could probably get away with a 30E. The band is soft and runs a smidge big – I wear it on the middle set of hooks. It’s possibly the most comfy band I’ve worn. In fact, the material used for every part of this bra is incredibly soft! The straps are super silky-feeling, and so pretty.

I find a lot of bras are too high at the underarm for my body, and I get a bit of chafing there with new bras. Amour isn’t all that low under the arms, but it’s soft enough that it didn’t give me too much trouble. I experienced very slight irritation by the end of the first day I wore it (having worn it for about 13 hours) but it hasn’t been an issue since. I think in a 30E I probably wouldn’t have noticed it at all. I also really like the underwire, which is pretty gentle as opposed to, say, a Panache underwire. As much as I adore my Panache Claras, I’ll sometimes start to notice their firm underwires on a long day. Not so with Amour!

The Verdict

Broads, I am a fan! This is not a bra I think about throughout the day; it just does its job. I’ve found the spacer foam especially comfortable in hot and humid weather. While I love my Wacoal Lace Affair, its cups are a heavier foam and can feel like overkill on particularly sticky days. And the lace embellishment makes Amour beautiful and practical all at once. If you like a slightly minimized shape and a relaxed band, and you usually wear a 30-36DD-E in UK sizing, this is definitely worth trying on! Just be sure to thoroughly movement test it if you’re petite through the shoulders or have a short upper torso.

It can be tough to work around gorgeous bras all day long and not just snap them all up myself.
